Richard Snogren, an aerospace engineer by trade and an outdoorsman by leisure, created My Camp Kitchen™ because he could not find products that satisfied his needs. They were either poorly built (and flimsy), too small, or back breaking because the working surface is too low.
By combining his engineer’s eye for precision and quality with his knowledge of what campers and outdoorsmen need, he designed the My Camp Kitchen™ line of products.
A brief history
The development of My Camp Kitchen™ products was not an overnight journey but the result of years of experimentation and testing.
The first kitchens were built in the late 60s and consisted of four boxes carried on top of a Ford Falcon. This first camp kitchen was used by Richard, his wife and five kids during a two week camping vacation in the Sierras. It worked great, but he saw ways to improve it. The second innovation came along in the early 80s and was a large kitchen, that broke down into many pieces and was carried on top of a Jeep Cherokee. This was solid and quite large, having a counter that was six feet long and 36 inches high. This has had years of use, but more improvements were needed. Richard wanted a kitchen that would carry food and cooking gear as well as provide a very sturdy 36 inch high countertop. Hence, the evolution of My Camp Kitchen™. Eight prototypes later, he has perfected the design and launched My Camp Kitchen™.
